- Film buffs may have seen most titles
A watch list you can scratch
Streaming lists live in an app nobody looks at. This poster puts the list on the wall where everyone in the house sees it.
It shows famous films from across the decades, each under a scratch off square. Watch a film, scratch the square and a small image linked to the film appears [1].
Over a year, the poster slowly fills with color, which is the satisfying part.
Box, paper and size
Gift Republic designed it in England and calls itself the original designer of scratch off bucket list posters [1]. It ships in a triangular box that needs no wrapping [1].
The poster is A2 in portrait orientation and unframed [1]. A2 frames are easy to find, but budget for one if you want it on the wall on Christmas Day.
The listing notes that the titles are used for reference only and the poster is not endorsed by any film studio [1].
Who will be disappointed
The list is a mix of well known classics. A serious film buff may have seen most of them already, which takes away the fun.
Anyone with strong taste in a single genre, such as horror or anime, will find many titles they would skip.
For them, a book or a streaming gift card for a niche service is a better idea.
Turning it into a movie night gift
It works best as the start of a ritual: one film a week, a scratch after the credits.
From this guide, pair it with the Nostalgia s'mores maker for a full movie night kit, or with Rory's Story Cubes for a family that likes evenings in.
Add a bag of popcorn kernels and the first film already chosen, and it feels complete.
FAQ
How does the Gift Republic movies scratch poster work?
Each square on the poster hides a film title. After watching the film, you scratch off the gold layer and a small image linked to that film appears [1]. Over time, the poster fills with color and becomes a record of every movie night [1]
Does the Gift Republic poster come framed?
No. The poster is unframed and sized A2 in portrait orientation, so it fits standard A2 frames [1]. It arrives in a triangular gift box, which makes it easy to give without wrapping, but plan on buying a frame if it is going on the wall [1]
Is a movie scratch off poster a good Christmas gift?
It is a good one for couples and families who watch films together. It gives them a reason to plan movie nights all year. For a dedicated film buff, the list may be too familiar, so a niche book or box set could suit them better [1]
