SOUNDANCE Laptop Stand Review: The Best Cheap Desk Gift?
An aluminum riser that lifts a laptop screen toward eye level and leaves space underneath for a keyboard. Cheap, solid and used every working day, which is the whole brief for a coworker gift.
Yes, for anyone who works on a laptop at a desk all day. It lifts the screen by about six inches and stays steady [1]. Skip it if they work on an external monitor, and remember they will need a separate keyboard to type comfortably on it.

Pros and cons

- Fixed height, not adjustable
- Does not fit laptops above 15.6 inches
Why a laptop on the desk hurts
A laptop flat on the desk puts the screen at chest height, so the head tips forward all day. The stand brings the screen up toward eye level, which is the whole reason it exists.
SOUNDANCE says it lifts the screen by 6 inches and supports a more natural sitting posture for long work sessions [1]. For hybrid workers who set up at a different desk every week, that is a cheap fix that travels.
Aluminum, airflow and setup
The stand is 5 mm thick aluminum alloy and holds up to 8.8 lbs without swaying, with non-slip pads that keep the laptop in place [1].
The forward tilt and open frame let air move under the laptop, which the listing says helps with heat during heavy work [1]. It fits laptops from 10 to 15.6 inches [1].
It comes as three detachable pieces and sets up without tools in seconds [1]. That also means it can go home in a bag on remote days.
What it does not include
Once the screen is raised, typing on the laptop keyboard is awkward. A separate keyboard and mouse are part of the deal, and some coworkers will not have them.
The height is fixed. Very tall or very short people may want an adjustable stand instead.
Larger 16 and 17 inch laptops fall outside the listed range [1], so check what your coworker carries.
Gifting it with a mouse
The stand works best as half of a setup. From this guide, the Logitech Pebble mouse completes it for under the cost of most single gifts, and the Logitech desk mat ties the desk together.
For a team gift, it is cheap enough to buy several. A new hire or a coworker moving desks will appreciate it most.
If you are unsure whether they own a keyboard, ask casually or pick the mouse pairing and let them add the rest.
FAQ
How high does the SOUNDANCE laptop stand lift the screen?
The listing says it raises the screen by 6 inches toward eye level [1]. That is enough to stop the head tipping forward for most people at a standard desk. The height is fixed, so very tall users may still want a monitor or an adjustable riser [1]
What laptop sizes fit the SOUNDANCE stand?
SOUNDANCE lists it for laptops from 10 to 15.6 inches, and it holds up to 8.8 lbs [1]. Most work laptops fall in that range, including common thin and light models. Larger 16 and 17 inch machines are outside it, so check before you buy [1]
Do you need a keyboard with a laptop stand?
For long typing sessions, yes. Once the screen is raised, the built-in keyboard sits too high to type on comfortably. Pair the stand with a mouse and keyboard, or give it to a coworker who already has them. From this guide, the Logitech Pebble mouse is the easy companion [1]
