Stretched Canvas Six Pack Review: U.S. Art Supply Any Good?
Six cotton canvases in a long landscape format, triple primed and stapled at the back. The refill painters always need more of, and the size it suits best.
Yes, for acrylic and oil painters who go through canvas fast. These are 100% cotton, triple primed and back stapled on pine bars [1], in a wide format made for landscapes. Skip them for a painter who works on paper or wants a different size.

Pros and cons
- Only one size in the box
- The long shape does not suit portraits
- Standard profile, not a deep gallery edge
Canvas is the thing they run out of
Painters underestimate how much canvas they use. A single good canvas at the craft store costs a lot; a six pack means a new painting can start the day the idea arrives.
These are 10 x 20 inch canvases on a 3/4 inch profile [1], a long rectangle that suits landscapes, seascapes and city skylines.
Cotton, priming and the frame
The listing says each canvas is 100% cotton with a medium grain, triple primed with acid-free titanium gesso [1] and finished at 12 oz weight [1]. That is a ready to paint surface; no extra priming needed.
The fabric is hand stretched over kiln dried pine bars and back stapled [1], so the edges are clean enough to paint around and hang without a frame.
A box of one shape
Every canvas is the same long rectangle. That is great for a landscape painter and awkward for a portrait painter who wants upright formats. Check what they paint before buying.
The profile is a standard three quarter inch [1]. Painters who hang unframed work on thick gallery edges may want a deeper profile.
What to pair with the stack
Canvas plus paint is a complete gift for an acrylic or oil painter. Pair the six pack with the Liquitex BASICS or ARTEZA acrylic sets, or with the Winsor & Newton Winton oils from this guide.
Add the U.S. Art Supply gesso if they like an extra smooth coat, or put the stack beside the MEEDEN studio easel for the big gift.
FAQ
Are U.S. Art Supply canvases good quality?
For everyday painting, yes. The U.S. Art Supply stretched canvases are 100% cotton, triple primed with acid-free gesso and back stapled on kiln dried pine bars [1]. They are a solid studio canvas, not a museum grade linen, which suits practice and finished hobby pieces alike [1]
Do U.S. Art Supply canvases need gesso before painting?
No. The listing says the U.S. Art Supply canvases come triple primed with acid-free acrylic titanium gesso [1], so they are ready for acrylic or oil straight from the box. Some painters add one more coat for a smoother surface, but it is optional [1]
What can you paint on a long canvas?
A 10 x 20 inch canvas suits wide subjects: landscapes, seascapes, city skylines, a row of trees or a long still life [1]. Turned upright, it works for a tall waterfall or a single figure. The U.S. Art Supply six pack gives a painter six tries at the same format [1]
